The Kalamazoo Valley Museum celebrates the 15th Annual Festival of Health on January 23, 12-4 p.m. This family fun festival includes a variety of free exercise classes, massages, and a chance to meet with local health professionals.

Free health assessments, chiropractic education, posture analysis, massage, and Reiki sessions will be conducted by West Michigan Chiropractic, Messamore Family Chiropractic, and Healing Ways. Take on Jonathan Vahue, D.C. from Healthy Family Chiropractic in the “Fitness Challenge.” Learn more about Tai Chi from the Taoist Tai Chi Society of the U.S.A. Move your hips and try a variety of belly dance moves from Michelle Hayes of Belly Dance Costumes U.S.A. Learn about performance training from Tyler DePuydt from Bronson Sports Medicine. Free classes will rotate throughout the program in our WorldWorks room on the Museum’s first floor.

Kalamazoo County, MSU Extension will work with families to build healthy mealtime habits. Create your own portion plate and discover how much sugar Americans consume through sodas and other beverages from KVCC’s new Culinary and Allied Health Services campus representative Melody Woods. Juice Plus and Tower Gardens will share the importance of eating and growing your own fruits and veggies to have a positive effect on your health. Vegan Kalamazoo returns for more fun activities. “It’s always a pleasure to participate in the KVM Festival of Health,” says Hillary Rettig, organizer of Vegan Kalamazoo. “It’s great to interact with diverse members of the community and give them the information they need to transition to a healthier, kinder, and more ecologically sustainable plant-based diet.”

Child and Family Psychological Services, Cornerstone Christian Counseling, and Bronson Sexual Assault Services will be on hand for questions and answers. The Department of Health and Human Services will demonstrate Safe Sleep practices for infants and toddlers. Bronson Breast Health Imaging will provide informational materials. The Center for Vein Restoration will be conducting demonstrations on lower leg vein assessments with portable ultrasound equipment. Receive a free oxygen facial treatment from BeautiControl and learn how this stimulates new cells and collagen growth. Talk with Richard Oppenlander D.D.S., P.L.C. about cosmetic and general dental practices.
