McOmber’s June Letters

Spencer writes only two short letters to his mother in June. Both were written early in the month and two topics dominate Spencer’s thoughts.

First, he is still hospitalized from the accident that he suffered in May when he fell from his horse and a wagon ran over his legs. He has been in a New Jersey hospital for several weeks and thinks he should be able to return to action soon.

Second, there is a possibility that he could receive a furlough within the next few weeks. He hopes to be able to be home in Kalamazoo for the 4th of July celebrations if he is granted a furlough.

Come back on June 9 and June 11 to read Spencer’s letters for the month.
