On-line Photograph Database
In the year 2000, the Archives and Regional
History Collection and the Kalamazoo Valley Museum were invited
to submit historic regional photographs for a web-accessed database
that was being developed by the Kalamazoo Public Library. Approximately
2000 photographs were submitted, of which 1000 are from the Museum's
collection. Below are instructions for accessing the Museum's
photographs on-line.
- Go to Kalamazoo Public Library website at www.catalog.kpl.gov
- Click on LOCAL INFORMATION
- Select LOCAL PHOTOGRAPHS
- Enter words for a KEYWORD SEARCH. For example: main street.
If you want to view images of main street only from the Kalamazoo
Valley Museum, enter main street and kalamazoo valley museum.
- A list of images will appear. To the left of each image description
click FULL DETAILS for additional information OR click the link
icon in the lower right corner to view the image.
- The Museum’s catalog number (e.g., 68.342) is located
under DETAILS/Host item entry. Please use that number when referring
to the photograph.
- The original photographs may be viewed at the Museum by making
an appointment with the collection
staff.
