Hands-on History: Houses Tell All

Saturday, September 27, 2008: 9:00am – 2:00pm  FREE
This is the first of an occasional series for families and adults focusing on history close to home.  Houses Tell All features fun and informative investigative activities that will help reveal the secrets of your home’s past. Hands-on activities appropriate for kids and adults will include learning how to use local and online sources, reading house plans, plat maps, city directories and military records.  Challenge local historians’ knowledge with old and new photographs of your house – when was the house built?  What style is it?  How has it been changed over time?  Find the answers to these and many other questions to make your house tell all!

Participants will submit photos of their own homes for analysis by our historians – find the answers that will make your house tell all!
This workshop is recommended for adults or adults with children ages 8 & up.  Space is limited; call to register 373-7968 or email Donna Odom by September 19, 2008.
