Happy New Year

Wed. Jan. 1, 1913

Hello! here I start for another year and I’m not going to make any resolutions except to keep this diary written every day! Well this morning I went to bed after our watch party and didn’t get up till ten o’clock. Then I went over to Vera’s and played Cliftons violin and I’m just wild for a violin  When I get through College and Hellen and I are in our chicken farm I’m going to have a violin.

This P.M. I went up to Esther’s a few minutes then came home and tried to write a synopsis of “A tale of Two Cities.” But oh! its hard to study when its vacation. This evening we entertained the people of the Bethel Church and there were about 60 here. I really enjoyed the evening though I didn’t expect to and was horrified when they called on Vera and I to play. We served punch and waffers[sic]. I got better acquainted with some of the girls. This evening Mr. Parker called up and asked me to go on a roller skating party tomorrow night.
