Sun. Jan. 5, 1913

Went to church and S.S. had about 10 or 11 in my class today. I’m just completely faged when I get through teaching those boys. This P.M. I dressed and wrote letters I wrote one to Bernice Wilcox and one to Bernice Hoadley. Then Ralph came and we argued all the way to church about the question resolved “That I should give a toast at the Baraca Banquet” and I took a strong negative. He said the committee had chosen me with no word from him and that I had to do it. But I just won’t and I told him so. Why think how embarrassing it would be and him toastmaster. Then besides I was the only girl choosen[sic] and Miss Hussey and Mr. Hammond and Mr. Crowe and several others are going to speak. Why I would be scared stiff!  He came in after church and we had lunch. I finally persuaded him it was no [and] so he said he would leave it to the committee. Carl sat with us in church tonight Ha! Ha!
