No school today! I slept until after 10:00 A.M. then got up & told the folks about the Banquet. I read Vanity Fair the rest of the morning and until I feel[sic] asleep in the afternoon. I slept from about 3:00 to 5:30 and I haven’t accomplished anything today. I certainly wish I had lots of money I wonder if I ever will have.

Went to church and S.S. I have the worst time with James Phelps I don’t know how to manage that boy. This P.M. I read and then Ralph came and we read “My Lady Caprice” until church time. Its such a sentimental story in places that its hard to read to a boy. We went to church and the sermon was on the Final Judgement[sic] it was a very powerful sermon and I was greatly moved. Ralph & I talked religion all the way home. He doesn’t believe there is any Satan and he has very queer ideas  Oh I wish I could help him to see the truth.
