Tues. December 30, 1913

Well diary you’ve been hopelessly neglected for over a month and what do you suppose I’ve been doing with myself lately. Why since its now vacation and people love to do something good out of the ordinary while its vacation I decided that this was the most delightful and fittingly proper time to be sick  So in order not to waste any time I was taken sick Xmas day at Otsego and lent joy to a sorrowful occassion[sic] by departing to my sister’s upper room and staying there like an old woman with the “ague” I had chills and fever and sore throat and indeed felt like “The Last Leaf” being switched about mercilessly by the bleak November gale. But I shall go back now and try to fill up some of the blank pages.
