The Four Seasons

by Jean Flower

A quartet of four murals greets visitors to the gallery and flanks the entrance to the museum's planetarium. The 9' x 6' oil paintings are the work of Jean Flower, whose lifelong affinity for art took on new dimensions when she took to the sky as a pilot. The four murals are more than a figment of her imagination. They are composites, as defined by the seasons, of the geographic, demographic, and meteorological characteristics of this region as viewed from the controls of a Cessna 172 flying 2,000 feet above the earth.

Artist's Statement:
"From the air, the view is awesome, and life takes on a different perspective. It's like being in one giant sanctuary. I hope that these murals convey that feeling."
