Gibson Guitar Oral History Project

Gibson and Heritage Guitar Oral History Project

This year, Kalamazoo Valley Museum has launched a new oral history project focusing on the original owners and workers of the Heritage Guitar Company, many of whom also worked for Gibson Guitar Company before it left Kalamazoo in the 1980s.  Kalamazoo’s music heritage is rich, and its current music scene is thriving.  The stories of those who have worked in the stringed instrument making industry in Kalamazoo add to our knowledge of and appreciation for the Museum’s collections and exhibits.  The interviews will be integrated into programming such as Kalamazoo Valley Museum’s annual Fretboard Festival and “Guest Instrument” display and recordings. The Oral History Project is possible through a KVCC Foundation grant

Do you know someone who should be interviewed for this project?  Send an e-mail to: einglis@kvcc.edu.
